Abstract:
ZEISS is an internationally leading €4.5-billion revenue technology enterprise operating in the optics and optoelectronics industries. The ZEISS Group develops and distributes semiconductor manufacturing equipment, measuring technology, microscopes, medical technology, eyeglass lenses, camera and cine lenses, binoculars and planetarium technology. With its solutions, the company constantly advances the world of optics and helps shape technological progress. ZEISS is represented in over 40 countries and operates more than 30 production sites, over 50 sales and service locations and about 25 research and development facilities. Founded in 1846 in Jena, the company is headquartered in Oberkochen, Germany.
Over all these years, innovation has been a major driver of ZEISS’ success. The talk highlights important elements in the ZEISS innovation process with special focus on the current digital challenge.
Introduction of the speaker:

Dr. Ulrich Simon is Senior Vice President Corporate Research & Technology at ZEISS. He has an educational background in Physics. He graduated from Friedrich-Wilhelm University in Bonn, Germany, spend three years as a Feodor Lynen Fellow of the A.-v. Humboldt Foundation in the United States research environment, including Rice University in Houston, Texas. In the past, he held a number of positions at ZEISS. Over a period of twelve years he led the global microscopy business of ZEISS as the CEO.
