Biography

Dr. Guoqiang Li received his Ph. D degree from Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. Then he worked at Carl Zeiss Meditech, Inc. as a Research Scientist. He joined College of Optical Sciences at University of Arizona in 2003 and was an Associate Research Professor before joining the faculty of College of Optometry at University of Missouri – St. Louis in 2008. Since Jan. 2012, he is an Associate Professor at Ohio State University with a joint appointment with Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

His research interest includes vision optics, biomedical optical imaging, electro-optical devices, and holography. He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed journal papers and three book chapters and has delivered over thirty invited presentations. He received the Outstanding Young Scholar Prize from Hong Kong Qiu-Shi Science & Technology Foundation. His research has been funded by Wallace H. Coulter Foundation (Career Award) and National Institute of Health (through National Eye Institute, National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, and National Institute of General Medical Sciences).

He is a senior member of OSA and SPIE and a member of ARVO (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology). He served as the panel member for the federal research programs. He serves as a technical program committee member for international conferences and is involved in organizing these conferences. He was the chair of the subcommittee for Frontiers in Optics on Optical Design, Fabrication, and Instrumentation (2009-2011) and the Co-Chair for OSA Topical Meeting on Bio-optics Design and Applications. Currently he is the division chair of OSA on optical Design, Fabrication, and Instrumentation (2012-2014).
